12-15 March 2020
After the fun and indulgence of summer we begin to slow down. The seasonal transition is also the perfect time to detoxify.
At this Soft Detox retreat we will ease gently into simple eating, following a specially designed menu that combines juices, fresh vegetables, herbal teas and nutritious broths. This will be supported by the surrounding natural beauty of Amara Farm, daily yoga classes, a wood-fired sauna and therapeutic massage.
With Scaravelli-inspired Yoga we will awaken and enliven the spine, releasing deep-seated tensions in the body. With Aerial Yoga we will be elongating, lengthening and resting in a silky hammock which will allow us to safely practice immune-boosting inversions. Two-hour yoga sessions are interspersed by time to rest, wander through the Fynbos, warm up in the sauna or dip in the natural swimming pool.
Each student will receive two massage treatments: Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage with Eve Cunard and a one-hour massage with experienced therapist Odette Livni. Chi Nei Tsang is an ancient Taoist technique that uses deep, gentle touch, mainly on the abdomen to stimulate energy flow and improve the efficiency of the internal organs. Odette’s treatments use pressure point release, aromatherapy oil blends and energetic balancing to facilitate deep relaxation, release of muscular tension and re-connection to the self. These massages will enhance the detoxification process.
The retreat will be set on a peaceful farm close to Plettenberg Bay. We will stay in wooden chalets, eating fresh and wholesome vegetarian food, much of which is grown in the area and is lovingly prepared. Although it is a relatively short drive from town, with the backdrop of mountains and the sound of birdsong, there is a sense of being far away from it all. This is a space where students are encouraged to unplug, unwind and let the process unfold naturally.
Only eight spaces available. No experience of Aerial Yoga required.
